A little from Dustin: “Music has always been a major passion in my life. Through elementary school I played trumpet in the school band, gaining respect for all forms of music, but particularly classical and jazz styles. In middle school my mom took my brothers and I to one of the very first Joshua Fests’ to see some of the few bands we knew. Honestly, I don’t even remember who that was, but I do know we walked out with some compilation CD’s that ToothandNail records put out, and I quickly fell in love with bands like Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet, and Red. I will also add: Blindside, Spoken, and UnderOath were on a couple of those CD’s, and I HATED them. Music soon became more and more important in my life as I got older and our family went through some extremely rough times, eventually getting to a point where music was almost an obsession. I went through a time where I was hurting and angry, and UnderOath sounded less like noise, and more like raw emotion. That’s what drew me in, the emotion, the realness behind the music; I’ve seen first-hand how Jesus Christ can use music to draw someone to Him, after all he did it with me. Over the years I’ve continued to grow and love heavy music, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon!
I’ve made mistakes, and I’ve also seen God use those for so much more good than I have ever dreamt. I’ve been called on multiple missions trips; to Mexico, Idaho, New Mexico, and, most recently, half a year in Mumbai, India. I have a love for baseball, played pitcher and 3rd base through High School, and will never give up on my Giant’s! I love BrokenFM because of how real we are. We play music that we love, and I hope you feel the same. I am extremely thankful for the opportunity God has given me to serve and work with BrokenFM, and I want you as a listener to know that I am here for you! The artists I play are real, raw, and heavy. If you listen to The Mayhem, then you have probably had some rough times in the past or in your life currently. Send me an email, or a Facebook message I’d love to talk, and if I haven’t been through what you are going through, I promise I know someone who has. BrokenFM is music for broken people, we are here for you. Thank you.”
